Preparing
Before you come
- Wear loose, comfortable clothes. You stay dressed throughout.
- Eat something light an hour or two before. Don't arrive hungry.
- Bring a list of any medicines, and recent reports if you have them.
- Leave a little time afterwards. Many people feel sleepy, so rest before you drive.
- Drink water through the rest of the day.
How many sessions
It depends on what you bring
Some people feel a real difference after one session. For long-standing problems like migraine or chronic pain, most people need a series of regular sessions, often over two or three months, then a monthly session to keep things steady. The case studies on this site each ran to eight sessions or more.
Even if you are well, a session once a month is a good way to unwind the stress that builds up quietly.
Questions
Frequently asked
Does it hurt?
No. The touch is as light as a feather coming to rest. Most people find it deeply relaxing, and many fall asleep.
Do I need to undress?
No. You stay fully clothed, lying on a padded treatment table.
What will I feel?
Often warmth, tingling, gentle pulsing or a heavy, spreading calm. Small twitches are common as muscles let go. Sometimes emotions come up; that is normal and safe, and you never need to explain them.
What happens afterwards?
Most people feel relaxed and light, and sleep well that night. Changes can keep unfolding over a day or two. Occasionally there is a day of tiredness or mild tenderness as the body adjusts.
Can I keep taking my medicines?
Yes. Craniosacral therapy works alongside medical care. Keep taking anything you have been prescribed, and talk to your doctor before changing it.
Is it safe for everyone?
It suits most people, from the elderly to athletes. It may not be appropriate after a recent head injury or skull fracture, with bleeding on the brain, a known aneurysm, or certain spinal conditions. Please tell me about these when you book. More on safety.
